PRIVACY POLICY
POLICY:
Fayetteville Public Utilities’ (FPU) privacy policy is designed to define the guidelines for protecting personal information and customer records.
PROCEDURE:
FPU customers’ personal information is strictly treated as confidential. FPU does not sell or share personal information with any outside, non-affiliated person, company or organization, except in legally permitted circumstances. Examples include responding to a court order, law enforcement officer or reporting to the credit bureau. Customer information includes all of the information that FPU collects in the course of providing or offering services to customers. It may include information that would also be available from public sources, such as a listed phone number, and it may include the following types of routine non-public information:
• Information that customers record on applications or other account forms (such as customer name, address, email address, social security number, place of employment);
• Records retained from customer transactions with FPU such as checking account number or credit card number;
• Credit information obtained from consumer reporting agencies or other creditors;
• Information requested from other parties, as authorized by the customer (such as verification of employment or verification of utility service); and
• Demographic and other information obtained from carefully chosen firms.
FPU follows strict information security procedures designed to protect the confidentiality of customer information. Access to customers’ personal information is restricted to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you. FPU maintains physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with Federal Standards to safeguard customer information. All closed and inactive utility accounts will continue to be covered under the privacy policies and practices described in this policy.
