Fayetteville Public Utilities Crews Wear Pink Hard Hats for Breast Cancer Awareness

Crews from Fayetteville Public Utilities (FPU) have once again pulled out their pink hard hats in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Throughout the month of October, the community will see FPU crews wearing pink hard hats and employees wearing Breast Cancer Awareness shirts and pink ribbon lapel pins. FPU has also lit the Water Treatment Plant silo pink for the month.

“Breast Cancer is a topic that affects a lot of people,” says Fayetteville Public Utilities CEO and General Manager Britt Dye. “Everyone knows someone whose life has been touched in one way or another by Breast Cancer. We want to continue to show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness.”

According to BreastCancer.org, more than 40,000 women in the United States are expected to die this year from breast cancer. And breast cancer doesn’t just affect women. While the numbers are much lower, about 480 men are expected to die from breast cancer in 2018, with more than 2,550 new cases being diagnosed.
