FPU, recycling center to co-sponsor annual Christmas tree recycling event

Bring your natural Christmas tree to the annual “Grind a Pine” recycling event from Dec. 27 until Jan. 6, and Fayetteville Public Utilities’ tree trimming crew will turn your tree into useable mulch.

To recycle your Christmas tree, please remove all decorations, tree stands and tinsel to help reduce polluting the mulch and damaging equipment. Bring your cedar, spruce, fir and pine Christmas trees to the new location designated at the Lincoln County Museum.  FPU will grind trees into mulch during the event and leave it at the site for anyone to gather.

Visit the museum location to collect the mulch by the bagful or truck load.  The mulch is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so check the site regularly.

This is a free community service and recycling project co-sponsored by FPU and Keep Fayetteville/ Lincoln County Beautiful.

If you have questions, please contact FPU at 433-1522 or Keep Fayetteville/Lincoln County Beautiful, Inc. at 433-8208.
