FPU negotiating cable contracts with off-air network channels

Fayetteville Public Utilities (FPU) is currently in contract negotiations with off-air networks WZDX (54) Channel 3 and WAMY Channel 8. While FPU remains positive that a contract agreement to carry these channels will be reached, it must notify its cable subscribers of the negotiations in the event that an agreement is not reached and FPU is required to pull their network programming.

According to FPU’s CEO and General Manager Britt Dye, programming fees account for the bulk of FPU cable subscribers’ monthly bills in Fayetteville and Lincoln County. FPU states their goal is to continue offering quality cable programming during contract negotiations.

“Off-air network channels are heavily watched by our cable subscribers to get local news, weather and other network programs,” says Dye. “We will keep our customers informed of our progress in these discussions with the Nashville and Huntsville networks as we work to resolve a better contract agreement.”
